The Adult Care Licensure Section is responsible for approving administrators of adult care homes and family care homes. Administrators of adult care homes (7+ beds) are required to successfully meet all criteria of certification listed under NC Gen. Stat. § The Adult Care Licensure Section (ACLS) of the Division of Health Service Regulation is responsible for: Licensing of adult care homes (seven or more beds) Licensing of family care homes (two to six beds) Registration of assisted living facilities called "multi-unit housing with services".
Day Care Facilities for Adults offer in a group setting a program of individual and group activities and therapies for adults 18 years of age or older. The program provides community-based day care services for adults in need of a supportive setting, thereby preventing unnecessary institutionalization. Child Care in North Carolina is defined as a program or arrangement where three or more children less than 13 years old, who do not reside where the care is provided, receive care on a regular basis of at least once per week for more than four hours but less than 24 hours per day from persons other than their guardians or full-time custodians, or from persons not related to them by birth.
